About Us

Mauka To Makai Makaha Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit dedicated to educating the keiki about the ocean and teaching them various lifesaving techniques.

Our Junior Lifeguards program is run on all major school breaks. The keiki are taught ocean awareness and assessment skills, various board rescue techniques, learn about Hawaiian culture and much more!

We offer 2 programs, an older Junior Lifeguard program for kids ages 11-18 and a younger Keiki Ocean Awareness program for kids under 11.

Every year we also host Braddah Mel's Waterman Championships, a surf contest open to everyone.

Sessions

Summer

Summer is our longest session, starting the first Monday of summer break and running for 6 full weeks. Kids can do as many weeks as they would like, continuing to build their skills and knowledge of the ocean all summer.

Our Fall, Winter and Spring session are run 1 week each according to school breaks.

All sessions are run Mon-Fri,

9am - 1pm.

Registration starts every monday 8am @ the beach or ahead of time online through the sign up page

Kids can register any day of the week, but must come for at least 4 days including CPR to earn a certificate of completion.

Please bring a flask with water and a towel

Light lunch will be provided
